SCENE 1
WILLIAM: My name is Jackson Van de Kamp. That's what my parents called me when they adopted me 17 years ago. My original name was William. I've come to learn. That's what my birth mother called me. Dana Scukky. I've never really met her properly but I can feel her in thses...violent espiodes in which I can feel us connected to the future in ways I'm just beginning to understand. I don't know my role in the future, but I'm beginning to understand that as well. I-I have visions of it. It's a world of confusion and pain and loneliness that I can't escape, nor can I prevent, but I want no part in the suffering that it brings. (flashback from his childhood) I've known happiness. I had a happy childhood. Until I grew older, I had a life where I could dream of anything that I ever wanted to be, but even then I knew that I had powers. Special powers. When I turned 11, my powers grew. I got in a fight with Jerry Marriott. He was this bully who used to pick on the smaller kids who couldn't defend themselves. So I sent him to the hospital. I had to change schools many times. The kids would catch on that I was different. And then I, uh, just kind of became a criminal. So I was sent away to a school for bad kids. It devastated my parents, but I just couldn't help myself. Yeah, I guess that's why I've been lashing out. I talked to psychologists, and I would just make up stories and tell them what they want to hear. I'm so scared that I'm gonna, I'm gonna find out one day that I'm my father, all of a sudden. But then this man came from the government to talk to me and I could tell something was up, so I decided to just cool it. Then I had to come home, but every day there was this car on the street with these guys in it, watching our house. And I was smart. I-I didn't make any mistakes until I decided to play a stupid joke on these two girls. (flashback from "Ghouli) My whole world came crashing down. My parents were killed by those men on the street. Oh, no. And they're hunting me now. They found me. I'm afraid they'll kill me, too if they catch me. - What I need most right now is answers. About who I am, about how I can get my life back. I want to ask my real mother these questions, but I know that the truth can only come from my father, a man I've only seen in my visions but who I know I already hate.
SCENE 2
CSM : But I need you to know, Fox, when I gave you life, I never fathomed a moment when I would need to end it.
MULDER : I don't think you can do it.
CSM shoots Mulder.
SCENE 3
Fox is arriving to a motel to find his son.
MULDER (to the owner) : Hi. I'm an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. You have a guest here, a young man in his late teens.
THE OWNER : Checked in this evening. Paid me in hundreds. Is the boy a criminal?
MULDER : No. He's not. The boy is my son.
Mulder konocks on a door.
SCENE 4
In Kersh's office, we have a meeting between Skinner and his colleague.
KERSH : Have you seen the Internet? Seen this load of B. S. Mulder's spewing?
MULDER : I haven't seen it. What is it?
KERSH : Well, he's gone off about a conspiracy on this Tad O'Malley show, about a conspiracy to wipe out humanity. "Death will hunt you down. " That's a quote from Mulder. A quote from a federal agent, Mr. Skinner.
MULDER : I can't speak for Agent Mulder.
KERSH : You're his superior, for God's sakes. You're supposed to be in charge.
MULDER : I am in charge. I'll see if I can find Agent Scully and..
KERSH (upset): You find her and you shut her down. I'm closing the X-Files. I want Mulder and Scully's badges.
Skinner watches a video from O'Malley's show on Kersh's computer. He sees Mulder in front of a motel.
O'MALLEY (on video): A motel manager reporting a military-style incursion. What if it's not just fake news?
KERSH : I don't care if it is true. That's someone else's problem. We're not gonna see panic in the streets.
Skinner leaves the office, his phones vibrates.
SKINNER: Skinner.
CSM (in his car with Reyes) : I promised you a global contagion, Mr. Skinner. I'm about to deliver on that promise. All I asked of you was to find the boy.
SKINNER : So if I find him, will it stop?
CSM : Just find me the boy, Mr. Skinner.
Scully arrives.
SCULLY : Sir, I've left you three messages. Why aren't you answering?
SKINNER : Because I've been getting my ass chewed.
SCULLY : Well, it's Mulder. He needs your help.
SKINNER : Oh, he needs a hell of a lot more than that, Agent Scully. Where is he?
SCULLY : He's with our son. They're being pursued. He needs your help. I need your help.
SKINNER : I've been told to shut you down.
SCULLY : What are you talking about?
SKINNER : You're asking for my help when I've been asked to take your badges.
SCULLY : Who said that? Kersh? Is he in there?
SKINNER : Dana.
SCULLY : He doesn't understand what's happening right now.
SKINNER : Mulder has lit a fuse that you can't put out. He's made outrageous public statements on an Internet site.
SCULLY (confesses) : That wasn't him. That was me. And they're not outrageous.
SKINNER : Where are they? I can't help you, Agent Scully, if I don't know what's going on.
SCENE 5
16 HOURS EARLIER
Scully arrives at Mulder's home. She's on the phone.
SCULLY (to Reyes) : I'll put you on speaker phone.
MULDER : Who's on the phone?
REYES (on phone): This is Monica Reyes. I think they've got your son, William.
MULDER : Just tell me where he is, Monica.
REYES : Tennessee. Being transported by a private jet. Tail number N-G-D-J-G, landing in Maryland in two hours.
MULDER :Which airport in Maryland?
REYES : Braddock ATCA, southeast terminal. This may be your last good chance.
MULDER : When you say "last good chance," what exactly do you mean?
REYES : The person who controls your son is the person who controls the future.
She hangs up when CSM comes.
SCULLY : He's not on that plane, Mulder.
MULDER : You have any reason to distrust her?
CUT TO : CSM's car.
CSM (to Reyes) : Is there word on the boy?
REYES : Nothing. Nothing to report.
CUT TO : Mulder's house.
SCULLY: I don't know how I know, I just know that he's not on that plane.
MULDER : But what if he is on the plane? What-what if this is our last good chance?
SCULLY : Just come back alive.
SCENE 6
BRADDOCK HEIGHTS - MARYLAND
MULDER (watching Mr Y comes down from the plane but not William): Come on. Come on. Damn it.
He goes to the building.
GUARD (to Mulder) : Stop there! Face away. Hands behind your head. Behind your head!
Mulder fights them and wins.
MULDER (to Mr Y): And here I thought you were a liar. Your secret space program. You should really do a better job of protecting your ass.
MR Y : How the hell did you get in here?
MR Y: You can't keep this a secret for long. I'm unarmed, if you wouldn't mind.
MULDER : I'm only here about my boy.
MR Y: Well, we couldn't catch him. And I mean that quite literally, Mr. Mulder.
MULDER : Why does everybody want my son?
MR Y : You still don't understand, do you? Your son has what everybody wants, what people would kill to have.
Mulder kills MR Y.
SCENE 7
Jackson is pursued by policemen.
MAN: Cut him off! Move! Move! Go, go, go! Hey, jumping over!
He succeeds to escape and hides by using his powers.
SCENE 8
SCULLY (on phone) : Mulder, you haven't been answering your phone.
MULDER (on phone) : I had some payback to pay back. But you were right, Scully, he wasn't on that plane.
SCULLY : Look, I found something on the web. I think it's how they found him. There was a lotto cluster in Northeastern Tennessee. Eight recent winners in a ten-mile radius.
MULDER : Where was the last winner?
SCENE 9
Mulder enters in a bar and tobaconist. He asks the cleaning lady informations about William.
MULDER : Hi. You had a winning lottery ticket sold here last week?
THE CLEANING LADY : Don't talk to me about that. I was about to take on the next register when the kid bought the ticket.
MULDER : So you saw the kid who bought it?
THE CLEANING LADY : He told Dierdre the winning numbers, like he's got inside information, hands her the ticket back and says he'll split it with her. He did, too. So he came back.
MULDER : When was that?
THE CLEANING LADY : This morning. Dierdre took the money and quit on the spot, which is why I'm cleaning toilets right now.
MULDER : Right. You have, you have security cameras?
THE CLEANING LADY : Oh, my God. You're not gonna take back all that money now, are you?
MULDER : I'm just looking for the boy.
CUT TO : Scully who is having a new vision, memories from the vision she shared with Willim in "My struggle - part 2" and flashbacks concerning her son.
SCULLY: William!
WILLIAM: You can't help me.
REYES: The person who controls your son.
WILLIAM: Nobody can help me.
SMOKING MAN: I promise global contagion.
REYES: the person who controls the future.
SMOKING MAN: I need the boy.
Her phone is ringing, reconnecting her with reality.
SCULLY (to Mulder) : It was him, wasn't it?
MULDER : Yeah, I'm looking at him. He cashed in and hitched a ride with a trucker. I'm about two hours behind him. I got a sense of the general direction that he's headed.
SCULLY: They're heading northeast.
MULDER : That's exactly what I'm thinking, Scully.
SCULLY: We need to find him before they do. Everything depends on it. Every last thing in the world.
MULDER : Oh, I'm gonna find him. I am tired of looking at him on video.
Mulder's car was put under surveillance.
SCENE 10
Jackson/William is with a trucker.
TRUCKER : A young fellow like you needs to be careful who to trust on the road.
WILLIAM : I can take care of myself okay.
TRUCKER : Been trucking for 40 years, seen it all. Driving can drive you mad. Filling the time thinking about trouble.
WILLIAM : What kind of trouble do you mean?
TRUCKER : kind of trouble you looking for?
Mulder's car is right behind the truck.
CUT TO : Mulder's home, Scully si calling someone.
O'MALLEY (on phone): Hello?
SCULLY (on phone) : It's Dana Scully. Uh, I am just about to go on here, so I want you to listen to me.
O'MALLEY : Can I call you right back?
SCULLY : You're looking for a conspiracy, Mr. O'Malley? Here it is.
CUT TO : The truck
WILLIAM : You know why nobody's gonna mess with me?
TRUCKER : Hmm?
WILLIAM : 'Cause I have superpowers.
TRUCKER : Right. Like one of them, uh, X-Men.
CUT TO : Scully's conversation.
SCULLY (on phone) : There's going to be a contagion. A virus is going to be unleashed. People's immune systems will be decimated.
O'MALLEY (on phone) : Did-did you say unleashed? Where are you getting this information?
SCULLY (on phone): A man-made contagion from an alien pathogen.
CUT TO : the truck.
RADIO STATIONS CHANGING
TRUCKER : How the hell did you do that?
WILLIAM : Same way I do this.
He uses his powers on the trucker and show him the Ghouli. Jackson esapces from the truck just when Mulder arrives.
O'MALLEY (on phone): You realize how crazy this sounds?
SCULLY : Death in the streets, Mr. O'Malley.
O'MALLEY : Um, are you prepared to go on air? C-Can I say that you're my source?
SCULLY : A federal agent is your source.
O'MALLEY: Will Agent Mulder go on record?
SCULLY : Agent Mulder's our only hope.
O'MALLEY (to his assistant) : Karen!
CUT TO : another vision from William to Scully.
SMOKING MAN: You search for truth.
WILLIAM: I've seen the future.
SMOKING MAN: This is the truth that kills you.
SCULLY: William!
MULDER: William!
SCULLY (she sees Mulder die): Mulder.
SCENE 11
SCULLY (on phone): Mulder?
MULDER (on phone): I lost him. He scared the truck driver. You don't want to know.
SCULLY : Mulder, he-he got out. I've seen it. You're in grave danger.
MULDER : No, I'm-I'm too close now. (TRACKER CHIMING) I'm I-I think I know where he's going.
SCULLY : You're not listening to me.
MULDER : You're not listening to me.
SCULLY : I've seen how it ends, Mulder. (TRACKER CHIMING) I think he probably hitched another ride. I-I'm not that far behind him. (TRACKER CHIMING)
SCULLY : Mulder!
MULDER : I got to go.
Mulder hangs up and passes right in front of his pursuer's car.
CUT TO : Jackson who leaves with Mulder's pursuer who has just seen him on the road.
JACKSON : Hey. Thanks for stopping.
MULDER'S PURSUER : No trouble at all. Long way from nowhere. Where you headed?
JACKSON : Uh, Norfolk. I'm passing right by there. Get in.
SCENE 12
NORFOLK - VIRGINIA
Mulder goes to Sarah's house.
SARAH : Yeah, I bet you went to see her first.
CUT TO : earlier, William was there.
JACKSON : Look, I just have to talk to you, Sarah.
MADDY : How come you didn't call her?
JACKSON : Hi, Maddy. You're up past your bedtime. Look, I had to ditch my phone
MADDY : Like we believe that.
JACKSON : Look, I can explain everything. Please, it's cold, I..
SARAH : Hey, my parents are coming home soon, so ...
CUT TO : earlier, Mulder's talking with Brianna.
MULDER : You remember me, Brianna?
BRIANNA : Yeah. I think I know why you're here.
MULDER : Has he been here?
BRIANNA : Look, we broke up.
MULDER : Has he called?
BRIANNA : We don't talk anymore.
MULDER : I need you to be honest with me.
BRIANNA'S FATHER : Who's at the door, Brianna?
BRIANNA : Um I really have to go, sir.
MULDER : He's been here, hasn't he?
BRIANNA : He's in big trouble.
MULDER : I need to know where he is.
BRIANNA : Well, you're asking the wrong girl.
CUT TO : Sarah's home.
MADDY : I can't believe you, Sarah.
WILLIAM: I can't live like this.
SARAH : What are you talking about?
JACKSON : If this is gonna be my life, I-I I don't, I don't want to live.
SARAH : You can't talk like that, Jackson. What?
JACKSON (laughs with madness) Jackson... I haven't even heard the name "Jackson" in months. You have no idea what I've been through.
SARAH : Maybe you, maybe you need to go to the police.
JACKSON : I can't go the police killed my parents.
SARAH : A-Are you sure they're the ones who killed your parents?
JACKSON : Yeah, 'cause I'm some kind of freak.
SARAH : Stop it. You are not - a freak.
JACKSON : Yes, I am.
SARAH : No.
JACKSON : Okay, yeah, you've seen what I can do, Sarah. And they want me for that, all right? They want to catch me, they want to put me in a cage, they want to poke me and prod me and keep me in a laboratory my entire life.
SARAH : What are you gonna do?
JACKSON : I could die. I could jump off a bridge, or..
SARAH : What can I say to stop you?
JACKSON : Say you'll come with me. I can't do this alone. Please, I'm so sick of being alone.
SARAH (earing a car approaching) : That's my parents. Please, I-I can't - I can't talk now.
JACKSON : I-I have money. I have a look, I have look, I have so much money.
SARAH : Okay.
JACKSON : We can go anywhere.
CAR DOOR OPENS
SARAH : I can meet you somewhere. Mm-hmm?
JACKSON : Meet me at that-that motel. The Timberland?
SARAH : I will. Just go. Okay? Out the back.
JACKSON : You promise?
SARAH : I promise. Now okay, don't do anything stupid before I get there, okay? Okay?
CUT TO : later, Mulder arrives at Sarah's home.
MULDER : Sarah, I need to know where he is.
SARAH : I-I don't, I don't know what you mean.
MULDER : He's on the run. I can help him.
SARAH : Why should I believe you're telling the truth if he doesn't even believe it?
MULDER : Because I'm his father. That's why.
MADDY : I don't believe you're his father.
SCENE 13
THE TIMBERLAND MOTEL
Someone knocks on Jackson's door.
JACKSON : U-Uh, I'm trying to sleep. What do you want?
MULDER : My name is Mulder. I'm your father. I know it must seem strange to you, but I've been looking for you forever.
JACKSON (opening the door) : Okay, so how'd you find me now?
MULDER (taking him in his arms) : It doesn't matter. I'm here. Ah. You're taller than me. I held you when you were a baby.
JACKSON : Okay, maybe you did, but I don't remember that.
MULDER : You're angry. And I understand.
JACKSON : I don't think you do understand.
MULDER : There's a lot I have to explain.
JACKSON : Look, it's not safe for you here, okay? You should go.
MULDER : If you trust me, I'll protect you.
CUT TO : Erika Pryce and his men find their guy (Mulder's pursuer) dead in his car. His head had exploded. The alors finf the trakcer and now know where Mulder is.
MULDER : I know you know who I am. You hid from me. And from your mother.
JACKSON : Yeah, 'cause I'm a danger to people.
MULDER : Well, I can help with that.
JACKSON : You can't help me. All right? Nobody can help me. Okay? These people, they're never gonna stop coming for me. I've seen the future, all right? I have visions. I-I know what happens if they catch me. All the people who are gonna die.
MULDER : Your mother has those same visions.
JAKCSON : Then why don't you see them? Look, I don't want to live in that world. And, I don't know, maybe I can stop it. If I didn't exist...
MULDER : It's not your fault, William.
JACKSON : Yes, it is.
MULDER : Then let me help you stop it.
JACKSON : You can't. All right? 'Cause you die, too.
Erika and his men arrive in front of the motel.
ERIKA PRYCE (to his men) : We still want the boy alive.
MULDER: No one has to die here, William. Especially not you. You have to live.
JACKSON : Look, I know that you think that you're helping me right now, but you're not helping me, okay? You're just helping them. You're just helping them find me. And (he stops when he ears a noise outside) Okay, it's too late. Listen, you got to go.
MULDER : No, I'm not leaving you.
JACKSON : You got to
MULDER : You get back there, and you get down. Get out the back.
JACKSON : Get down. No stay away from the door!
Erika's men come in.
MAN : Move!
JACKSON (to Mulder and uses his powers) : Get down.
MAN: Let me see your hands.
Jackson made everybody, except from Mulder, explode. The he goes away.
MULDER (running after him) : William! William!
THE OWNER : The hell's going on here?
Mulder has lost him.
SCENE 14
FBI BUILDING
SKINNER: I can't help you, Agent Scully, if I don't know what's going on.
Scully's phone vibrates. She answers.
SCULLY : Mulder?
MULDER : You can't believe what just happened. I lost him, Scully. He's gone.
SCULLY : Just tell me where you are.
MULDER : I'm still in Norfolk.
SCULLY : Mulder, I'm coming down there.
MULDER : He won't listen to reason.
SCULLY : He'll listen to me. I know he will. (line clicks then to Skinner) I got to go.
SKINNER : I'm supposed to rein you in.
SCULLY : This isn't about the FBI, sir. This is about our son.
SKINNER : I'll drive.
SCENE 15
O'MALLEY (on video): We have been working around the clock here to bring you breaking news of a global contagion, "Death Will Hunt You Down". That's its name, says our FBI source, as his superiors label it fake news. Shocker. Now, follow me here, folks. We have eyewitnesses at a motel in Norfolk, Virginia, and a motel manager reporting a military-style incursion.
CSM and Reyes arrive in front of the motel.
REYES (to a policeman) : Federal agent. I want to talk to you.
O'MALLEY (on video): Four individuals in a military vehicle assaulting a motel room occupied by a teenager. Now, that is our FBI source on camera after he witnessed the execution of military personnel in a bloodbath so insane, it can only point to a conspiracy the likes of which the world has never seen.
CUT TO : Mulder's car. He is calling Sarah but it's Maddy who answers.
MULDER (on phone) : Just let me talk to Sarah.
MADDY (on phone) : I said she can't talk now.
CUT TO : Scully and Skinner's car.
SCULLY : He's not answering.
SKINNER (watching his own phone and sees Kersh's messages) : Well, apparently, he's making news again. Kersh is blowing up my phone.
SCULLY : Why are you violating his direct orders, sir?
SKINNER : Right now, we need to find your son.
SCULLY : But why would you risk your whole career?
SKINNER : I think I've been pretty clear about that.
SCULLY : Who were you on the phone with outside of Kersh's office? Who was that?
SKINNER : There's something you need to know. Something you may not want to hear. It's about your son. And who his father is.
CUT TO : Mulder's car and his conversation.
MULDER: I need to know where William would go. Where-where he might go to feel safe.
MADDY : I'd probably say the harbor.
MULDER : Okay, where-where at the harbor?
MADDY : We'd all go down by the docks.
MULDER : Do you have a-an address for a street, or a landmark?
MADDY : I-I don't know. Uh Probably the old sugar factory.
CUT TO : Scully and Skinner's car and conversation.
SKINNER (to a shocked Dana) : Hearing this about William must come as a shock. I didn't want to tell you.
Scully sees Mulder's car right in front their own.
SCULLY : That was Mulder.
SKINNER : All right, hold on.
SCENE 16
OLD SUGAR FACTORY
Scully and Skinner arrive. Scully comes into the building and Skinner sees the CSM's car away.
SCULLY: Mulder? (she sees a shadow and runs) Don't run. William! William!
As Skinner goes to CSM, Scully is still searching William then she sees Mulder.
MULDER : It's me.
SCULLY : I just saw him.
In the mean time, Skinner points his gun to the car where CSM and Reyes are. CSM wants her to drive on Skinner but she refuses and begins to go into reverse. CSM, furious, takes the command and drives right to Skinner at Monica's horror. Skinner shoots and kill Reyes the he is spilled by CSM. He probably dies.
Mulder and Scully hear shots.
SCULLY (worried and wants to go check on him but is stopped by Mulder) : That's Skinner.
MULDER: Wait. He's here.
SCULLY : I know. I just saw him.
MULDER : Yeah, he doesn't want to be found.
SCULLY : I just want to talk to him, Mulder.
MULDER : I talked to him. He told me everything what he's afraid of.
SCULLY : I know what he's afraid of.
MULDER : Stop. It's no use.
SCULLY : What do you mean?
MULDER : I'm asking you to let him go.
SCULLY (confused) : What are you talking about, Mulder?
MULDER : There's nothing we can do.
SCULLY : We can protect him.
MULDER : No, we can't protect him. No one can. He knows that you love him.
SCULLY (surprised and lost) : How can he know that? How can he possibly know that?
REAL MULDER : Scully! Stop him!
She realises she was, the all time, talking to William and not to Mulder. William runs and his parents run after him.
SCULLY AND MULDER: William. William! William! William! William! William!
MULDER : He's in the next building.
SCULLY: Go!
CSM who has still survived follows him too. Mulder and his father meet.
CSM (pointing his gun) : You really don't give up, do you? But then you have so much to lose. It's what we have in common.
MULDER : We have nothing in common.
CSM : I need the boy. The boy is mine.
MULDER : The boy would rather die first, now that he knows the truth.
CSM : That I'm the one who made him? That I'm William's creator?
MULDER : You'd shoot your own firstborn son?
CSM : Shot my second-born son once. But I need you to know, Fox, when I gave you life, I never fathomed the moment would come when I would need to end it.
MULDER : I don't think you can do it.
CSM : Then you don't know me very well.
CSM shoots Mulder. He falls into water. The real Mulder arrives soon after and we understand that CSM shoots William. Mulder kills CSM. Scully arrives.
MULDER: Hey! (to Scully) He's gone. He's gone, Scully. He shot him. And he shot me.
SCULLY (breathless) : Mulder....
MULDER : He...He wanted us to let him go.
SCULLY : He wasn't meant to be.
MULDER : William was our son.
SCULLY : No.
MULDER : Scully, he was our son!
SCULLY : No. William was an experiment, Mulder.
MULDER (lost) : What are you talking about?
SCULLY : Mulder He was an idea. Born in a laboratory.
MULDER : But you were his mother.
SCULLY : No, I I carried him. And I bore him. But I was never a mother to him. I wasn't. William ...William was ...
MULDER : For so long, I believed. What am I now if I'm not a father?
SCULLY : You are a father.
MULDER : What are you talking about? (she puts his hand on her abdomen) That's impossible.
SCULLY (crying) : I know. know it is. It's more than impossible.
We see William's head burst through water.
